Citizens for a Responsible Denver is a diverse coalition of Colorado businesses opposed to Denver mandating green rooftops through I-300 on the November ballot. The initiative would require ALL buildings over 25,000 square feet to install a green roof with solar panels and/or vegetation at the time of new construction or roof replacement. We want to keep Denver affordable while working to ensure a strong economy. I-300 is a foolish mandate that will drive up costs and make Denver’s market even more expensive.

Why You Should Vote NO

  • Initiative I-300 will drive up building and maintenance costs

  • Increased costs will be passed on as higher rents and put housing further out of reach for Denver’s hardworking families.

  • PROPERTY OWNERS SHOULD BE ABLE TO DECIDE IF THEY WANT TO HAVE A GREEN ROOF. A ONE-SIZE-FITS-ALL CITYWIDE MANDATE IS NOT THE SOLUTION.

  • There are advantages to having green roofs, but we should not mandate it.

  • MILLIONS OF TAXPAYER DOLLARS SHOULD GO TO MORE IMPORTANT CAUSES THAN PLACING GREEN ROOFS ON EVERY SCHOOL AND CITY BUILDING IN DENVER.

This fall, we urge our neighbors and fellow citizens of Denver to VOTE NO on I-300.
